Een residentie in het buitenland, een studiereis of een retraite die je werk een nieuwe richting geeft. Met de beurs Grensverlegger ondersteunt het K.F. Hein Fonds kunstenaars en vormgevers uit de provincie Utrecht die zo'n stap willen zetten. De beurs dekt tot 50% van de kosten, en we denken graag met je mee.

Twijfel je of je wilt aanvragen voor onze beurs Grensverlegger? Kom dan op 22 september naar de informatiebijeenkomst bij het K.F. Hein Fonds. Van 15:30 – 16:30 uur vertellen we je graag wat de beurs precies inhoudt en waar je inzending aan moet voldoen. Daarnaast delen oud-Grensverleggers hun proces en ervaringen.

We sluiten af met een borrel. Deze bijeenkomst zal Engelstalig zijn.

Over Grensverlegger

Met de beurs Grensverlegger ondersteunen we jou als kunstenaar of vormgever uit de provincie Utrecht in je artistieke ontwikkeling, door een reis naar het buitenland mede mogelijk te maken. De impact die deze reis kan hebben op jouw werk staat centraal. Met de beurs financieren we maximaal 50% van de kosten. De andere 50% financier je uit andere bronnen.

Over de oud-Grensverleggers

Sarah Kaushik 

Sarah werkt als scenograaf, dramaturg en immersive storyteller op het snijvlak van performance, ruimtelijke dramaturgie en animistisch geïnspireerde pedagogiek. Ze behandelt plekken als medewerker en onderzoekt landschappen als levende archieven van menselijke en meer-dan-menselijke geschiedenis. Via luisteren, wandelen, performance, poëzie en installatie maakt ze participatieve ervaringen die putten uit mondelinge tradities, mythologieën en geloofssystemen. Haar werk onderzoekt hoe participatieve scenografie de relatie tussen lichaam, geheugen, ecologie, gemeenschappen en plek opnieuw vormgeeft.

Christina de Korte

Christina (29) groeide op in een huis vol boeken, souvenirs en textiel van over de hele wereld. Die geordende chaos werd de basis van haar kunstpraktijk. Inmiddels maakt ze grote, kleurrijke installaties op textiel en papier, geïnspireerd door patronen en tradities uit verschillende culturen. Met de reisbeurs Grensverlegger vertrok ze begin 2026 naar Caïro om dat werk een nieuwe dimensie te geven.

Sabine Bolk

Sabine (1984) is beeldend kunstenaar en batikonderzoeker. In haar werk gaat ze in op de geschiedenis van batik, de koloniale invloed op die traditie en de betekenis achter de motieven. Op haar blog The Journey to Batik schrijft ze over haar reizen en onderzoek naar makers en dragers, vroeger en nu. Sabine schrijft artikelen, organiseert evenementen en geeft lezingen, presentaties en workshops om batik onder de aandacht te brengen, te bewaren en te beschermen.

Rozemarijn Westerink 

Rozemarijn (1982) maakt gelaagde tekeningen en animatiefilms met pen en inkt die verwijzen naar innerlijke of droomachtige ruimtes. Haar werk kenmerkt zich door trage, arbeidsintensieve maakprocessen,
waarbij beweging en handeling centraal staan. Westerink studeerde aan ArtEZ in Arnhem (BA) en St. Joost in Den Bosch (MA). Ze ontving in 2006 de Buning Brongers Prijs en in 2023 de Open Call Zadkine, geïnitieerd door het Zadkine Museum in Parijs en de Nederlandse ambassade in Frankrijk.

Are you in doubt whether you should apply for our travel grant Grensverlegger? Come to our information meeting on September 22 at the K.F. Hein Fonds. From 3.30 till 4.30 pm we’ll explain what the grant entails and what details your submission should contain. Moreover, former Grensverleggers will share their process and experiences. You can stay for a drink afterwards. This meeting will be in English.

The Grensverlegger Travel Grant supports artists and designers from the province of Utrecht in their artistic development by helping to fund international travel. We focus on the transformative impact this experience can have on your creative practice. This grant covers up to 50% of your total costs, with the remaining 50% funded through other sources. About the former Grensverleggers

Sarah Kaushik

Sarah works as a scenographer, dramaturg and immersive storyteller at the intersection of performance, spatial dramaturgy and animist-inspired pedagogy. She treats places as collaborators and researches landscapes as living archives of human and more-than-human history. Through listening, walking, performance, poetry and installation, she creates participatory experiences that draw on oral traditions, mythologies and belief systems. Her work explores how participatory scenography reshapes the relationship between body, memory, ecology, communities and place.

Christina de Korte

Christina (29) grew up in a house full of books, souvenirs and textiles from around the world. That ordered chaos became the foundation of her artistic practice. Today she creates large, colourful installations on textile and paper, inspired by patterns and traditions from different cultures. With the Grensverlegger travel grant, she left for Cairo in early 2026 to give that work a new dimension.

Sabine Bolk

Sabine (1984) is a visual artist and batik researcher. Her work engages with the history of batik, the colonial influence on that tradition, and the meaning behind its motifs. On her blog The Journey to Batik, she writes about her travels and research into makers and wearers, past and present. Sabine writes articles, organises events, and gives lectures, presentations and workshops to raise awareness of batik and to preserve and protect it.

Rozemarijn Westerink

Rozemarijn (1982) creates layered pen-and-ink drawings and animated films that evoke inner or dreamlike spaces. Her work is characterised by slow, labour-intensive processes, in which movement and gesture take centre stage. Westerink studied at ArtEZ in Arnhem (BA) and St. Joost in Den Bosch (MA). In 2006 she received the Buning Brongers Prize, and in 2023 the Open Call Zadkine, initiated by the Zadkine Museum in Paris and the Dutch embassy in France.
